About Ernie Green

Ernie Green was one of the early stars for the Cleveland Browns. He spent seven seasons with the Browns, rushing for 3,204 yards and catching 179 passes. Green was initially teamed in the Cleveland backfield with legend Jim Brown. He helped block for Brown in 1963 when he ran for a then record-setting mark of 1,863 rushing yards. A year later, the duo helped the Browns win their fourth NFL championship. When Brown retired, Green was named a Pro Bowler and All-Pro in 1966 and 1967. After retiring, he became successful running the automotive manufacturing company, Ernie Green Industries. The Green Bay Packers originally selected Brown in 1962 before trading him to Cleveland during training camp. He starred at the University of Louisville, where he is a member of the Ring of Honor.
