About Eric Green
In 1990, Eric Green was selected 21st overall in the NFL Draft after a collegiate career at Liberty College. After a 54 day holdout due to contract disputes, Green took the field for the first in week 5 for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Green immediately made an impact on a Steelers offense that hadn't scored a TD in the first 4 weeks, and by the end of his rookie season he caught 7 TDs for 397 yards. The versatile Green continued to impress and after back to back Pro Bowl appearances in 93 and 94 and another contract holdout, Green became a free agent and was picked up by the Miami Dolphins. Green signed a six year, $12 million contract with the Dolphins, making him the highest paid TE in NFL history at the time. Green was never able to perform like had he with the Steelers and after stints with the Baltimore Ravens and the New York Jets, Green retired in 1999 with 36 career TDs, 24 of which came in the first half of his career.
