About Ellis Hobbs III
Ellis Hobbs III found great success at DeSota High School as a football and track athlete and accepted a scholarship to play football for Iowa State University. Hobbs came in as a freshman and started at cornerback for the next three seasons. Hobbs chose to forego his senior season and enter the 2005 NFL Draft where he was selected by the third round by the New England Patriots. Hobbs saw time off and on throughout his first two seasons, originally winning the job but losing it when a wrist injury hindered his play. Hobbs had his best season in the Patriots 2007 run to the Super Bowl and he started out the season by breaking the NFL record for longest kick return/longest play with a 108 kickoff return. In 2008, Hobbs broke a Patriots record with most kick return yards in a single game when he returned for a combined 237 yards. Hobbs was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009 and during the 2010 season, after winning the starting cornerback job, Hobbs made a hit that resulted in him being carted off the field due to a disc injury, ending Hobbs' career.
