About Ed Marinaro
Quite simply put, Ed Marinaro was a workhorse in his collegiate football days. As a running back for Cornell University from 1969-1971, Marinaro set 16 NCAA records during his tenure, two of which he still holds to this day. After leading the nation in rushing two seasons in a row and becoming the first college player to ever rush for 4,000 career yards, Marinaro was runner-up in the 1971 Heisman Trophy race but did win the Maxwell Award for the nations best player. Marinaro went into the NFL and played for 3 different teams throughout 6 seasons and made it to 2 Super Bowls. After retiring from football, Marinaro began a career as an actor. He guest starred in a variety of television series and had a full-time cast role in Hill Street Blues. In 2010, Marinaro got a role as the head coach in Spike TV's hit shows Blue Mountain State for all 3 seasons.
