About Donnie Edwards
Donnie Edwards is a retired NFL linebacker who played 13 seasons in the league with the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers. Originally from San Diego, California, Edwards played collegiately at UCLA from 1992 until 1995. In four seasons as a Bruin, Edwards recorded 22.5 sacks, which is fifth in school history. Edwards also left UCLA ranked third in tackles for loss with 38. His 12.5 sack season as a junior ranks second in UCLA history for a single season. Following his graduation, Edwards was selected in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. With the Chiefs, Edwards led the team in tackles for all four seasons, eventually leaving to join his hometown San Diego Chargers in 2002. In his first season as a Charger, Edwards recorded 100 tackles and five interceptions, earning his first and only Pro Bowl nod. Edwards spent five seasons as a Charger before returning to Kansas City for two more seasons before retiring in 2009. Edwards now devotes his time and money to charity, supporting organizations that create awareness for child abuse and children’s health.
