About Devean George
Devean George’s path to NBA stardom was an unlikely one. After starring at Benilde-St Margaret’s School in Minnesota he attended Augsburg College in his home state and became an NCAA Div. III legend. Although NCAA Div. III players do not usually garner much attention from pro scouts, he became a bright dot on the NBA scouting radar during his years at Augsburg by average 27.5 points per game and leading his team to a 24-4 record during his senior year. The fact that he earned Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference MVP honors during his final two seasons also helped earn him the respect of NBA organizations around the league. In 1999 the Lakers selected George in the first round and he became an instrumental member of their three NBA Championship teams in 2000, 2001 and 2003. George stayed with the Lakers until 2006, then spent three seasons playing for the Dallas Mavericks before finishing his career with the Golden State Warriors in 2010.
