About Derek Dooley
Derek Dooley got his start in college coaching in 1996 at the University of Georgia after a standout career as a wide receiver at the University of Virginia. After serving two years as a grad assistant at Georgia he served as an assistant at Southern Methodist University and Louisiana State University from 1997 to 2004 before getting a call to the National Football League as the tight ends coach for the Miami Dolphins. Dooley returned to the college game in 2007 as the head coach at Louisiana Tech and led the Bulldogs to a win in the Independence Bowl in 2008. After the 2009 season he was hired as the head coach at the University of Tennessee and led the Volunteers to a win in the Music City Bowl during his first season in Knoxville in 2010. In 2013 he left Tennessee to take a job as the wide receivers coach with the Dallas Cowboys. In 2014 he was an instrumental part of the Cowboys division winning team that ranked at the top of the league in receptions and receiving yards.
