About Dennis Smith Jr.
The Dallas Mavericks originally selected Dennis Smith Jr. with the ninthoverall pick in the 2017NBA Draft. During his one season at NC State, he was regarded as one of the best point guards in college basketball. He averaged 18.1 points, 6.2 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game on the way to being named ACC Rookie of the Year. Smith was also voted to the All-ACC Freshman team and the All-ACC second team. He became the first player in conference history to record at least two triple-doubles in ACC play. Smith played his high school ball at Trinity Christian School in North Carolina. As a junior, he was named North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year. Unfortunately prior to his senior season, Smith tore his ACL, but he was still regarded as a consensus top five prospect in the Class of 2016.
