Dean Spanos

Dean Spanos became the team president and CEO of the Los Angeles Chargers in 1994 after his father became the franchise’s majority owner a decade earlier. A native of Stockton, California, Spanos earned varsity letters in football and golf while attending Lincoln High School and went on to receive the Lincoln High School Hall of Fame Award. After high school he continued his golf career at the University of Pacific in his hometown and graduated in 1972 with a degree in business administration. In 1994 he became President and Chief Executive Officer of the Chargers after working as a part of the franchise for several years alongside his father. During his first year as team president the Chargers made an appearance in Super Bowl XXIX. During Spano’s tenure as team president the Chargers have won four AFC West titles in 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
