David Beckham Biography

David Beckham is one of the greatest soccer players ever and he made an impact almost immediately upon hitting the pitch with Manchester United at age 17.  He was a two-time runner up for the FIFA World Player of the Year and former captain of England's national team. He is considered to be one of the top 125 greatest living footballers in the world.  In 2007, Beckham made his highly publicized debut in the MLS with the LA Galaxy, and has been a fixture in the league ever since despite leaving the league as a player in 2011.  Prior to joining the Galaxy he earned his reputation while making 386 appearances with Manchester United, Preston North End and Real Madrid from 1992 to 2007.  He also competed on the English national team from 1996 to 2009 and made 115 international appearances, where he scored 17 goals and became a national hero. After a decorated 20-year career in professional soccer in which he played both overseas and in the United States, Beckham retired in 2013.  He is currently bringing a new MLS team to Miami, Inter Miami. A founding member of the Malaria No More UK Leadership Council, Beckham has been a long time advocate in the US for charities that help disadvantaged youth.
