About Danny Kanell
Danny Kanell is a former NFL quarterback and currently a nationally known sports talk radio host. Kanell first became a star in college at Florida State University. In his first game action, Kanell threw for 341 yards and five touchdowns in place of Charlie Ward, who would go on to win the Heisman Trophy. Kanell was awarded the starting job in his junior year, finishing the season with 2,781 yards, 17 touchdowns, and a 10-1-1 record. In his senior season, Kanell threw for 2,957 yards and 32 touchdowns, earning him an honorable mention All-American honors.
Kanell was subsequently drafted in the fourth round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, where he was a two-year starter. He played six seasons before entering the broadcasting world, becoming a TV and radio personality at ESPN. While at ESPN Radio, he was co-host on the wildly popular, "Russillo and Kanell." He currently hosts a morning college football show on SiriusXM Radio. Kanell is a Fort Lauderdale native and a member of the Florida State Athletic Hall of Fame and the Broward County Sports Hall of Fame.
