Dan Kendra is a former collegiate quarterback who is more famous for his time in high school than anything else. A highly touted high school recruit, Kendra spurned his hometown Penn State to attend Florida State University in 1996. A physical freak, Kendra had everything it took to be a collegiate QB. His work ethic and diet had him on track to become everything a legend was, and he had never even played a down of college football. After redshirting his first season, Kendra backed up Thad Busby for two seasons under coach Bobby Bowden. With fans clamoring for Kendra to start, Bowden remained true to his ideas that Kendra would benefit from sitting out until it was his turn. Finally, in 1998, Kendra was tabbed the Seminoles starting quarterback, but he would tear his ACL during spring practice, effectively ending his career under center before it even got started. He did return to the field at FSU and was starting fullback for the team that won the 1999 national championship. Kendra went undrafted in the 2000 NFL Draft, but signed a free agent deal with the Indianapolis Colts. He retired from football for good following his first training camp and went on to explore becoming a Navy SEAL before returning home to Pennsylvania.
