Carlos Smothers Biography

Carlos “Los” Smothers is known as one of the world’s best dunkers. Smothers began playing basketball in fourth grade and as a freshman in high school he made the varsity basketball team. Smothers began dunking in the eighth grade and has won over ten dunk contests since then. Smothers competed in the 2010 Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown at All Star Weekend. He was one of four men who were selected in a nationwide search to participate in the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown. After coming in second to UP AIR THERE, Smothers began working as a Sprite Showdown All Star/ Judge. He travels the world looking for the top amateur dunker. Smothers does not work out his legs to increase his jumping height, everything he is capable of doing is a natural ability. When he began dunking at 13 years old, he was only standing at 6-foot-1, but he was able to get high above the rim.
