Britta Steffen Biography

Britta Steffen is a professional swimmer who represents Germany in international competitions. In 1999, Steffen won six titles at the junior European championships, and competed in her first Olympics one year later as a member of the freestyle relay team. Steffen would go on to compete at many World Championship events, winning multiple medals and setting world records in the process. At the 2008 Olympic Games, Steffen won gold at the 100 meter freestyle along with a gold at the 50 meter freestyle. Her success in the Olympics and at World Championships has earned her much national recognition, and she is considered one of the most decorated German athletes of all time.
