About Brian Shaw
Brian Shaw is a retired NBA shooting guard and current associate head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was previously a head coach with the Denver Nuggets from 2013-15. Shaw got his start as a player in college with St. Mary’s College in California, eventually transferring to UC Santa Barbara for his junior and senior seasons. As a senior, Shaw won PCAA Player of the Year, and led the team to their first ever NCAA Tournament berth. Following his graduation, Shaw entered the 1988 NBA Draft, where he was drafted 24th overall by the Boston Celtics, playing for the team for three seasons before joining the Miami Heat. Shaw would go on to play for six more teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, the Portland Trail Blazers, and many more. He was a part of four NBA Finals appearances, winning three of them with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2000 to 2002. In 2003, Shaw assistant with the Lakers from 2005 until 2011, and winning two more championships in 2009 and 2010.
