About Bobby Cox
Bobby Cox played one season in the big leagues with the New York Yankees before finding his niche as a manager. After retiring as a player in 1969 he became a manager in the Yankees organization in 1971. He’d coach in the minor leagues for eight seasons before being hired as the manager of the Atlanta Braves in 1978. After three years with the Braves he made the move north to the Toronto Blue Jays from 1982 to 1985. However, in 1986 Cox returned to the Braves as their General Manager, and went on to manage the Braves from 1990 to 2010. During that stretch he led the Braves to an unprecedented 2,504 wins, 14 National League East Titles, 5 National League Pennants, and one World Series Championship in 1995. Known for being the ideal players manager, Cox retired in 2011 as one of the best managers in MLB history. Cox took his rightful place among the best players and managers in baseball history in 2014 when he earned unanimous induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
