About Bob Crable
Bob Crable is one of the greatest players in the storied history of Notre Dame football. He originally came to South Bend from the Cincinnati high school power, Archbishop Moeller High School. Crable's teams won three straight state championship while racking up a 36-0 record. Crable went on to be a two-year captain at Notre Dame and a two-time first-team All-American. His 521 tackles are still a Fighting Irish record. Crable recorded a team-record 187 tackles in 1979. That season, he had 26 tackles against Clemson, which set an NCAA single-game record. The New York Jets originally selected Crable in the first round of the 1982 NFL Draft. He spent seven seasons playing with the Jets. Following his playing career, Crable spent eight years as the head coach at Moeller.
