About Bill Blankenship
Starting as a player for the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane from 1975-1979, Bill Blankenship has gone far. He was the starting quarterback for the football team, and even played in the 1976 Independence Bowl. Since his playing time, Bill decided that he wanted to get into coaching. Like most coaches before him, Bill got a position on a high school team. For 14 years Bill led Tulsas Union High School to a 154-26 record which included a 56 game win streak, and 3 state titles. His success with Union High got him experience and exposure. In 2005 Bill decided to pursue his goal of coaching at the college level. After a year not coaching, and working as a position coach at his alma mater of Tulsa an opportunity arose. On January 14, 2011 Bill became the head coach of the University of Tulsa football team. In just his second season as coach Bill led the Golden Hurricane to a conference title and a Liberty Bowl victory.
