Bernie Kosar

Bernie Kosar is one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the Cleveland Browns. After an illustrious career at the University of Miami that included a national championship and numerous passing records, Kosar was chosen by his hometown team, the Cleveland Browns, in the 1985 supplemental draft. Initially, Kosar was to serve as backup behind incumbent QB Gary Danielson, but an injury to Danielson in week 5 forced Kosar into action, leading the Browns to the playoffs with an 8-8 record. With a firm grip on the starting job, Kosar rose to the elite ranks of the NFL in 1986, throwing for 3854 yards and 17 touchdowns, finishing the season with a 12-4 record and a loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC championship game. Kosar would go on to lead the Browns to the playoffs three more times until being released by head coach Bill Belichick in 1993.  After a brief stint with the Cowboys in which he gained his only Super Bowl ring as backup to Troy Aikman, Kosar went on to finish his career with the Miami Dolphins, retiring in 1996 with career totals of 23,301 yards and 124 touchdowns.
