Alistair Overeem Biography

Alistair Overeem is one of the most recognizable mixed martial artists in the world.  Overeem is the former heavyweight champion of both Strikeforce and DREAM as well as a K-1 World Grand Prix champion.  Overeem started his UFC career at UFC 141 with a win over one-time heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar.  He has also beat former champion Frank Mir in the octagon, but holds just is just 2-3 since joining MMA’s top promotion in 2011.  Some of his other notable wins from his pre-UFC career include triumphs over Vitor Belfort and Fabricio Werdum.  One of the things that make Overeem stand out above other fighters is his ability as a kickboxer.  When he held the DREAM and K-1 titles, he became the first fighter to be an MMA and kickboxing champion at the same time.  Overeem was International Fighter of the Year in 2010 and 2011.
