Former NFL Running Back Joe Washington Makes Hometown Appearance for Book Signing

Joe Washington has a new book out and he is returning to his hometown of Port Arthur, Texas to help promote it. On Tuesday, he will be holding a book signing at the Museum of the Gulf Coast.

The signing will run from 3-5 p.m. The book is called "The 7 Secrets of the Silver Shoes: Principles for Success On and Off the Field."

His father, Joe Sr., who was also his head coach in high school will also be at the signing. Washington was the all-time rushing leader in Port Arthur city history until his record was broken by current NFL running back Jamaal Charles in 2004.

Washington was a first-team All-American and finished in the top five of voting for the Heisman Trophy twice at the University of Oklahoma. The San Diego Chargers made him the fourth pick of the 1976 NFL Draft.

While with the Baltimore Colts, Washington led the NFL with 82 receptions and was named to the Pro Bowl in 1979. He went on to be named an All-Pro in 1981 and help the Washington Redskins win Super Bowl XVII.

Washington is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. He is currently a financial advisor for Wells Fargo.
