Yankee Great Mariano Rivera Hosts Luncheon at NYY Steak

On Tuesday, Yankee diehards got to brush shoulders with one of the team’s all-time greats. Mariano Rivera hosted a luncheon in conjunction with Steiner Sports at NYY Steak.

There were various ticket packages that ranged from $375 to $1000.  Fans could enjoy lunch and leave with Rivera photos or autographs.

NYY Steak is billed at the steakhouse of the New York Yankees.  The Rivera event was held at their Manhattan location, although they also have locations in Yankee Stadium and Coconut Creek, Florida.

Rivera has had a busy week, also hosting his second annual charity golf tournament Monday at Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor.  Proceeds benefited his foundation that aids the underprivileged in New York and in his native Panama.

Rivera is universally known as the greatest closer in baseball history.  He holds the all-time saves record with 652 and has a playoff-best 0.70 ERA.

The 42 saves Rivera racked up in the postseason while helping the Yankees win five World Series titles is also a record.  While in pinstripes for 17 seasons, he made 13 All-Star appearances.

The Yankees rewarded his tremendous accomplishments when they retired his jersey in 2013.  Rivera is also likely to be voted in to the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot when his candidacy comes up in 2018.
