World Education Congress Adds Basketball Icon Magic Johnson as Keynote Speaker

Meeting Professionals International could not add a more universally beloved figure to the speaker lineup for their upcoming World Education Congress. Basketball icon Magic Johnson is the latest keynote speaker to be announced.

WEC 2017 takes place June 19-22 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. There will be over 70 education sessions that focus on eight different areas.

Johnson will speak at the All Attendee Networking Luncheon on June 21st. He will parallel the way his Los Angeles Lakers teams changed the NBA to how business leaders can redesign their meeting experiences.

After being the top overall pick in the 1979 NBA Draft, Johnson played 13 seasons for the Lakers and became one of the greatest point guards of all-time. As a rookie, he won the first of three NBA Finals Most Valuable Player trophies.

Johnson won a total of five NBA titles with Los Angeles. He was a 12-time All-Star, a nine-time All-NBA first team selection and he won three NBA MVP awards.

Johnson is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and has his #32 jersey retired by the Lakers. He currently is part owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Sparks and serves as the Lakers President of Basketball Operations.
