Winged Foot Scholar-Athlete Award Banquet Names Two-Time U.S. Open Champion Curtis Strange Keynote Speaker

The Winged-Foot Scholar-Athlete award banquet is making use of a sports celebrity who lives in their backyard. Two-time U.S. Open champion and part-time Naples, Florida resident Curtis Strange is the event's speaker for 2018.

The banquet takes place on May 24th at the Naples Grande Beach Resort. In addition to Strange's presentation, attendees will take part in a silent auction and cocktail reception.

There will be $5,000 scholarships handed out to the finalists and $11,000 to the winner. Individual tickets for the banquet are $275 and corporate tables of eight are $2,000.

Strange won his U.S. Open crowns in back-to-back years in 1988 and 1989. He won 17 times on the PGA Tour and was one of the most dominant golfers of the 1980s.

Strange was the leading money winner on the PGA Tour in 1985, 1987 and 1988. That last season, he became the first golfer to top one million in earnings in a year and was named PGA Tour Player of the Year.

Strange was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007. He has been a popular golf analyst for ESPN/ABC since 1997 and also works the USGA Championships for Fox.
