Top College Football Speaker Kirk Herbstreit Set to Release Memoir

There are not many names more synonymous with college football than Kirk Herbstreit. People have followed Herbstreit's life since he was an Ohio State quarterback and he truly has gained a national following in the years since as the star of ESPN's College Gameday.

Now, Herbstreit, who is also a top college football speaker, will be telling his story in his own way with a forthcoming memoir, "Out of the Pocket: Football, Fatherhood and College Gameday Saturdays." The autobiography, co-authored by Gene Wojciechowski, is set to be released just prior to the start of the season on August 17th.

Topics addressed in the book include how Herbstreit dealt with his parents divorced, his journey to Ohio State and, of course, his highly-acclaimed broadcasting career.

“I’ve thought about writing a book in the past, but it was always on the back-burner,' said Herbstriet via a release. "But now I just felt the timing was right. This is a much broader view than just football. It’s the journey of my life, of its trials and tribulations. I wanted to share that journey with others who have had challenges in their own lives.”

The press release also stated that Herbstreit will give a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to get ready for a big College Gameday weekend. That includes stories about working with his partners and fellow top college football speakers Chris Fowler, Rece Davis, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard
