Tony Hawk Holds Skate Demo at the Gumball 3000

There is no question that skateboarder Tony Hawk is a global icon.  This weekend, Hawk made an appearance at the culmination of the worldwide celebration known as the Gumball 3000.

On Friday night, he held a skate demo in Las Vegas where the weeklong 3,000-mile rally came to a close.   Hawk has participated in several Gumball 3000s in the past and the Tony Hawk Foundation has been apart of the event for the last 12 years.

The Gumball 3000 combines fashion, music, cars, and entertainment into one celebration that makes stops in several cities across the globe.  It first started back in 1999.

Hawk is the most famous extreme sports athlete of all-time.  For 12 consecutive seasons, he was the National Skateboard Association world champion.

He is credited with building an entire industry around sports like skateboarding. The Tony Hawk Pro Skater video game series became hugely popular following the debut of the first edition in 1999.

Hawk has also had several other successful business ventures and appeared in many movies.  His autobiography, HAWK – Occupation: Skateboarder was a New York Times bestseller.
