Former Detroit Tigers Manager Jim Leyland to Keynote Baseball and Softball Fundraiser

Jim Leyland remains an admired sports figure in the state of Michigan where he had his longest managerial run with the Detroit Tigers. There will be plenty of people excited to hear from him next month when he speaks at a fundraiser The Greater Flint Area Baseball and Softball Association.

Hot Stove Night with Jim Leyland takes place on January 25 at Foutch's Strike Zone in Flint Township. The organization is raising money for field renovations at Broome and Whaley Parks.

Tickets are available for $100 for one, $150 for two and then $75 for each extra ticket. Sponsorships range in price from $250-$1000 and they include admission to a special MVP Hour that runs an hour prior to the event.

Leyland spent the last eight years of his career managing in Detroit and leading the Tigers to two American League pennants. He also won AL Manager of the Year in 2006.

Leyland first had success with the Pittsburgh Pirates, guiding them to three straight division titles from 1990-92. He went on to win the World Series with the Florida Marlins in 1997.

Leyland won 1,769 games, which ranks 17th in baseball history. He still serves as a special advisor to the Tigers and managed the Team USA squad that won the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
