Tampa Bay Rays Broadcaster Dewayne Staats Holds Bay Area Book Signing

In his 40th season as a major league broadcaster, Dewayne Staats is taking time to reflect on his career.  He recently released the book, "Position to Win: A Look at Baseball and Life From the Best Seat in the House".

On Saturday, Staats is holding a book signing at the Dunedin Library.  The signing takes place from 10-11:15 a.m.

The book shares great stories from Staats lengthy career.  It is certainly something that all baseball fans can appreciate.

Staats is the only television broadcaster the Tampa Bay Rays have ever known.  He joined the club in their inaugural 1998 season after a three year stint at ESPN.

In 1977, Staats began his career in big league baseball with the Houston Astros.  He also has called games for the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees in a 40-year career that includes nearly 6,000 broadcasts.

Staats began a career in broadcasting with the Oklahoma City 89ers while still attending classes at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.  He is a member of the SIUE Alumni Hall of Fame and the SIUE Athletics Hall of Fame.
