Russell Westbrook Lands Endorsement Deal with Mountain Dew

It has been announced that Russell Westbrook will be the official face of Mountain Dew’s energy drink, Kickstart. According to the Beverage Digest, Kickstart has made $250 million dollars in sales in 2014 which was only the second year it has been on the shelves.

The Oklahoma City point guard was originally drafted as the 2008 fourth overall pick in the first round to the Seattle Supersonics, but in a matter of days later the team left Washington for Oklahoma and so did Westbrook. The four-time NBA All-Star achieved his first triple double statistics just a year later, with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Westbrook is known as one of the star basketball players in the NBA who’s style includes attacking the basket and having a strong finish at the rim. In addition to that, he has the ability to create fantastic scoring abilities for his teammates which is one of the reasons the Thunder is so fond of him.

The Mountain Dew company is a business that seeks a lot of creativity in their products, and they were drawn to Westbrook for his go-getter attitude. The NBA All-Star MVP was mutually interested in Mountain Dew for the freedom that they give to their endorsers. Since Mountain Dew does not have a contract with the NBA itself, they will have to rely on just images of Westbrook playing the game with his aggressive moves.
