New Miami Coach Mark Richt Makes Appearances on Canes Building Champions Tour

Last week, new Miami Hurricanes football coach Mark Richt highlighted a list of dignitaries at the first of many events promoting UM athletics this spring.  The first stop on the 2016 #BuildingChampions Spring Tour was in Dania Beach.

The tour also made stops in Jacksonville and Orlando last week.  This week, the Canes brass hits the road heading to Atlanta and Southwest Florida.

They will wrap the series of appearances with events on May 19th and 20th in Chicago and New York respectively.  In addition to Richt, head basketball coach Jim Larranaga, women's basketball coach Katie Meier, and athletic director Blake James are on the tour.

Each outing costs $25 for UM alumni and Hurricane Club members.  It is just $15 for alumni having graduated in the last ten years or children under the age of 12.

Richt is coming home to his alma mater as one of the most successful active coaches in college football.  He racked up a 145-51 record as the head coach for 15 seasons at Georgia.

With the Bulldogs, Richt won two Southeastern Conference titles and six Eastern Division crowns.  He was named SEC Coach of the Year on two occasions.

Prior to arriving in Athens, Richt was one of legendary coach Bobby Bowden's top assistants for 14 seasons at Florida State.  He is beloved by Canes fans for serving as the backup quarterback during the program's formative years in the early 1980's.
