Miracle on Ice Hero Mike Eruzione Motivates Arlington Touchdown Club with Powerful Speech

As one of the focal points of one of sports' most inspirational real-life stories, Miracle on Ice hero Mike Eruzione has been a popular speaker for nearly three decades. He brought another motivational speech last month to the Touchdown Club of Arlington.

The group was holding their annual McAvoy Dinner Event and Eruzione was able to talk about the journey Team USA had to win an improbable gold medal at the 1980 Olympics. He also added several humorous anecdotes along the way and shared life lessons with the group.

Eruzione talked about his new book that is set for release next year. As an added bonus, donations were made to some of his favorite charitable organizations, including Winthrop Charities, Fidelity House and The Arlington Boys & Girls Club.

Eruzione was the captain of the 1980 Olympic team that won the gold. He scored the famous game-winning goal against the Soviet Union in the semifinals of the tournament.

Eruzione also competed for the United States in the 1975 and 1976 World Championships. Outside of international competition, he played in the International Hockey League for the Toledo Golddiggers.

Eruzione became a national broadcaster covering hockey for several networks after his playing days were over. He remains a Director of Special Outreach at his alma mater, Boston University.
