Miracle on Ice Hero Mike Eruzione Inducted Into Toledo Hockey Hall of Fame

Miracle on Ice hero Mike Eruzione has received no shortage of honors throughout his life. His latest recognition came January 20 with induction into the Toledo Hockey Hall of Fame.

Prior to joining Team USA, Eruzione was a member of the minor league Toledo Goaldiggers. He helped them win the Turner Cup and was named International Hockey League Rookie of the Year in 1978.

Eruzione was part of a five-person class that was the fourth group elected to the Toledo Hockey Hall of Fame. The luncheon at the Seagate Center also served as an induction ceremony for the ECHL Hall of Fame.

Eruzione's tenure in Toledo gave him the opportunity to make Team USA for the 1980 Olympics. He scored the iconic game-winning goal in the semifinal of the tournament against the Soviet Union and the Americans went on to defeat Finland in the gold medal game.

Eruzione retired from competition immediately following the Olympics and entered the broadcasting ranks, working five Olympics and NHL games. He also has remained active with his alma mater, Boston University.

Eruzione is also highly-regarded as a motivational speaker. He works with several charitable organizations and is active in fundraising for the U.S. Olympic Committee.
