Legendary Quarterback Michael Vick Shares Faith at Men's Rally

Legendary Quarterback Michael Vick has overcome public controversy to become a valued member of society. He preached the concept of forgiveness at a recent speaking engagement in Youngstown, Ohio.

Vick was a featured speaker at the 10th annual Men's Rally in the Valley. He shared with the crowd how important his faith was in overcoming his conviction related to running a dogfighting ring.

Vick talked about how he found God through the process and now works towards helping dogs. His most powerful comments during the speech were directed towards children who have faced tough times.

"I think the most important message to kids who come from poor backgrounds, the inner cities, is you know you have just as much hope as everybody else, you know," said Vick. "And if you wake up, and you, each and every day, and you breathe, and you got life, you got opportunity."

Even though his football career was interrupted by his personal troubles, Vick still had a successful 13-year tenure in the NFL. He was known as one of the most electrifying players in the sport and holds the single-season and career rushing records for a quarterback.

Vick was the top pick in 2001 NFL Draft and went on to be selected to four Pro Bowls. After he returned to the game following his prison sentence, he was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2010.

Vick retired from the league in 2017. He has dabbled in coaching and found post-retirement success as a broadcaster for Fox Sports.
