Baseball Hall of Famer Johnny Bench Set to Headline Accountants Annual Luncheon

Baseball Hall of Famer Johnny Bench has been speaking to groups and organizations for over four decades. He will be back on stage again on Friday as the featured speaker at the Law Foundation of Berks County and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Reading Chapter Holiday Benefit Luncheon.

The event takes place at 11 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza Reading. Instead of a more structured keynote presentation, Bench will take part in a fireside chat and also answer questions from the crowd.

Proceeds will benefit several children's charities, including the Children's Home of Reading. PICPA will also be collecting warm, adult socks for donation.

Bench is one of the greatest catchers in baseball history. He is a 14-time All-Star and two-time National League MVP that spent his entire career with the Cincinnati Reds.

Bench helped the Reds win six division championships, four NL pennants and two World Series crowns. He was the in the heart of the batting order for a team that became known as "The Big Red Machine."

Bench was a great hitter, but also won ten Gold Gloves for his work behind the plate. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986 and was named to Baseball's All-Century Team in 1999.
