MLB Hall of Famer John Smoltz Named Guest Speaker for the University of Georgia’s 1st Pitch Banquet

Newly elected Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz has been named the featured guest speaker for the University of Georgia’s 1st Pitch Banquet to be held on Friday, January 30 at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia.  Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.with dinner and the main program wet to begin a 7:00 p.m.

During the event Smoltz will deliver a keynote address and fans will have the chance to meet the 2015 Georgia Bulldog baseball team and coaching staff.  There will also be a silent auction with all proceeds going to benefit the Foley Field Revival Project. 

Tickets are $100 per person and $75 for former UGA baseball players, with tables of 10 available for $850.  The deadline to reserve seats is January 23, so don’t miss this opportunity to meet a true baseball legend.

Smoltz is the only pitcher in MLB history to have recorded 200 wins and at least 150 saves, and he did so over a long and successful 21-year career.  He is best known for his time with the Atlanta Braves, where he earned eight All-Star selections, the Cy Young Award in 1996 and a World Series title in 1995.
