Jackie Joyner-Kersee Named Keynote Speaker for Gallia County’s 152nd Emancipation Celebration

The four-time gold medalist athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee has been chosen as the speak for the Gallia County’s 152nd Emancipation Celebration that is taking place from 2-3 p.m. on September 20 at Bob Evans Farms. The annual Emancipation Celebration is the longest running event of its kind in the United States and has been put together by the Gallia Country Emancipation Celebration Committee. Joyner-Kersee is expected to give a great talk to the guests who attend the event, as she will have plenty to talk about from her past as “The Greatest Female Athlete of the 20th Century”, as she was named by Sports Illustrated.

The three-time Olympic gold medalist, one-time silver medalist, and two-time bronze medalist in the Heptathlon and Long Jump events is the world’s most decorated female in track and field history. She is also one of the most recognized faces in women’s athletics, and during her college years she played basketball for UCLA before also giving professional basketball a shot for a short time. In addition to that, one of her long jump performances from her Olympic days still remains the second longest jumped distance in the history of the sport.

Joyner-Kersee will be giving  the main speech for Gallia County’s 152 Emancipation Celebration this fall, and it will be a real treat for the attendees to get to hear from a woman who has accomplished so much in the sports world.
