Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry Named Speaker at 55th Annual Reading Hot Stovers Banquet

Hall of Fame pitcher Gaylord Perry will speak to a baseball-minded group this January.  Perry has been added as a keynote speaker for the 55th annual Reading Hot Stovers banquet.

The Hot Stovers support youth baseball and softball in the greater Reading, Pennsylvania area.  This event will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton on January 21st and begins with a cocktail hour at 5:15.

In addition to Perry, Philadelphia Phillies broadcaster Chris Wheeler and the 1980s wins leader Jack Morris will also speak.  Tickets are $60 to attend.

Perry won two Cy Young awards in the 1970s and led baseball in wins on three different occasions.  Overall, he compiled a 314-265 record and 3,534 strikeouts in his 22-year career.

Perry also made five All-Star squads in the midst of pitching for eight different franchises.  He was infamous for throwing a spitball.

In addition to his Hall of Fame honor, the San Francisco Giants also retired his #36 jersey.  Perry still makes a variety of appearances annually in retirement.
