Former NBA Player Derek Anderson is Keynote Speaker at Lexington Minority Business Expo

There is no hiding how crazy the people of Lexington, Kentucky get for Wildcat Basketball.  It makes sense that the 13th annual Lexington Area Minority Business Expo would bring a former UK great in as keynote speaker.

Derek Anderson will headline the two-day event, being held July 29-30 at the Lexington Convention Center.  Anderson will focus on his successes and struggles in life.

The conference costs $65 to attend and more information can be found at www.lexingtonmbe.com

Anderson is a Louisville native who played on one of the all-time great college basketball teams.  The 1996 Kentucky squad won the NCAA title and featured nine future NBA players on the roster.

That successful run in college would lead to Anderson’s being selected 13th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1997 NBA Draft.  He would play 11 seasons in the league and retire with over 7,000 points scored.

Anderson now runs a media company that he founded in 2009 and his foundation that works with victims of domestic abuse and underprivileged children.  His autobiography, Stamina, was published in 2013..
