Former Linebacker Kevin Greene Elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame

While most have always considered Kevin Greene one of the greatest defensive players of all-time, validation of that opinion was cemented this weekend.  Greene was selected as one of the eight to make up the 2016 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.

He had to be named on over 80% of ballots to be elected.  Greene is the only defensive player in a class that includes legends like Marvin Harrison and Brett Favre.

On August 6th, the class will be officially enshrined in Canton, Ohio.  It will be a special day and something that has been in the making for some time for Greene.

Greene spent 15 seasons in the NFL with four different franchises.  He accumulated 160 sacks, which ranks third in league history.

Greene had ten double-digit sack seasons and led the NFL in the category three times.  The five-time Pro Bowler was also a three-time first-team All-Pro.

Greene was named to the 1990s All-Decade Team.  Following his playing career, he spent five seasons as a linebackers coach with the Green Bay Packers.
