Former Harlem Globetrotter Melvin Adams Speaks at Mid-Atlantic Christian University Sunday

Former Harlem Globetrotter Melvin Adams has geared his entire life around inspiring kids. On Sunday, he will be speaking to a group of middle school and high school students at Mid-Atlantic Christian University.

Adams is the speaker for Sunday Night Live at the MACU gymnasium. The free event begins at 5 p.m. and no tickets are required, but space will be limited to the first 600-700 people in attendance.

Adams will use members of the MACU basketball team to aid his performance. On Saturday, he will also be speaking in the area to the Elizabeth City Boys and Girls Club.

Adams was a multi-time "Mr. Globetrotter" during his Globetrotters career. He retired in 2000 and has continued to work with kids through speaking engagements and appearances.

Adams has spoken to over three million people since his retirement. He shares not only stories from his basketball career, but also how he overcame the passing of his father and a rough upbringing in Houston, Texas.

Prior to becoming a Globetrotters star, Adams was a two-time NCAA Division III All-American at San Jose Christian College. He is the program's all-time leader in scoring, assists and steals.
