Female Football Pioneer Jen Welter Keynotes TWIST 2017

Yesterday, female football pioneer Jen Welter spoke at a special event in Charlotte, North Carolina. She keynoted TWIST 2017, held at Queens University's McColl School of Business.

The theme of TWIST was "Playing Big, Game Changing Breakthrough Performance." Breakfast and networking began at 7:15 a.m. and the program began at  8 a.m.

Individual tickets were $35 and a table of eight was $280. Many were inspired to hear about Welter's journey through the male-dominated world of football.

Welter made history by becoming the first female coach in NFL history. She served as a training camp intern coaching inside linebackers with the Arizona Cardinals in 2015.

After playing rugby in college, Welter had a lengthy career playing for several professional and semipro women's football teams. She became the first female to play a contact position in a men's football league in 2014 with the Texas Revolution.

The next year, Welter became linebackers and special teams coach with the Revolution. Since her stint with the Cardinals, she has received several awards, including the Sports Pioneer award from the United Nations at Women's Entrepreneurship Day.
