Duke Legend Christian Laettner Holds Three-Day Camp in Buffalo, New York

Last week, college basketball legend Christian Laettner made his annual trip back to Buffalo, New York to teach kids at a three-day camp.  The Christian Laettner Basketball Academy was held at Nichols School Monday-Wednesday.

The seven-hour sessions trained about 100 boys and girls of all ages in the finer elements of the game.  It cost $165 per person.

Laettner has been running the camp at his alma mater since 2011.  While at Nichols, he scored 2,066 points and won two state titles.

Most of the country knows what happened next.  Laettner is synonymous with Duke basketball after leading the school to their first two national championships.

No player has ever scored more points in NCAA Tournament history.  In Laettner’s last season, he won every national player of the year award, was a first-team All-American, and garnered Most Outstanding Player honors in the Final Four.

His history of making clutch shots in college led to Laettner being selected third overall in the 1992 NBA Draft and also getting an opportunity to play with the original Dream Team.  In 13 pro seasons, he was a one-time All-Star and scored over 11,000 points.

Laettner now travels the country training players through his basketball academy.  In addition to his Buffalo camp, he also hosts similar events in other cities throughout the summer.
