College Football Writer Andy Staples Speaks at Orlando Touchdown Club

The Orlando Touchdown Club has been welcoming guests each week during the football season. On October 9th, they heard from one of America’s preeminent college football writers.

Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples addressed the group at Dubsdread Golf Club’s Historic Ballroom. The meeting started with dinner at 6 p.m. and the official program began around 7 p.m.

Staples was able to share some fun notes on many of the OTC members’ favorite teams. Several local student-athletes were also recognized.

Staples has covered college football for Sports Illustrated and SI.com since 2008. He writes the widely popular Punt, Pass & Pork and #AskAndy columns.

Staples previously covered the University of Florida for The Tampa Tribune. He began his journalism career writing about University of Tennessee sports for the Chattanooga Times Free Press

In addition to his passion for college football, Staples is an expert on the college towns he visits and often writes about the food culture associated with college football. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Florida in 2000.
