Bobby Richardson Named Speaker at the 2015 North Carolina American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame

Baseball Hall of Famer Bobby Richardson will serve as the keynote speaker at the 2015 North Carolina American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame on March 1, 2015 in Salisbury, Maryland.

"What a great honor for Post 342 to host this prestigious event, and with Bobby Richardson coming to Salisbury, It's just fantastic," said Post Commander Wayne Kennerly.

Tickets for the banquet are on sale now for $25 a piece and will likely go fast.  RSVP is required, and the last day to reserve tickets in February 21.

Bobby Richardson played 12 seasons in the big leagues with the New York Yankees and helped lead them to three World Series titles in 1958, 1961 and 1962.  During that time he won five consecutive Gold Glove Awards at second base from 1961 to 165 and earned eight All-Star selections. Richardson’s best season came in 1962 when he hit a career high .302 with 8 homeruns, 38 doubles, and 99 runs scored to go along with an American League leading 209 hits.  That season he finished as the runner-up in the American League MVP race.  

In 1966 Richardson retired as one of the top Yankees of all-time.  Since his retirement he has served as the head baseball coach at Liberty University in 1985 and 1986 and become a national leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  As a born again Christian, he serves as one of the most sought after Christian speakers on the circuit.
