Blackhawks Teammates Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews Headline EA Sports NHL 16

It is no surprise that with winning comes even greater publicity.  This certainly holds true with the two stars of the Stanley Cup winning Chicago Blackhawks, Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews.

EA Sports is hoping to capitalize off the popularity of the two players by naming them as the next cover athletes for their NHL video game franchise.  NHL 16 will feature Kane and Toews as the first teammates to ever grace the same cover.

Each has already appeared on the cover individually.  On this edition, they are seen holding the Cup together.

The game will be available for purchase on September 15th.  It is expected to feature increased depth on both single player and team modes as well as enhanced gameplay.

Kane and Toews have been around with the Blackhawks for all three recent Cup wins.   Toews won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2010 while Kane captured the award following Chicago’s 2013 triumph.

Kane is a former number one overall pick of the franchise that has paid dividends.  He is a four-time All-Star and also an Olympic star for Team USA.

Toews has been revered for his leadership and assumed the Blackhawks’ captaincy when he was just 20 years old.  Also a four-time All-Star, he has won two gold medals in the Olympics playing for Team Canada.
