Baseball Hall of Famer Dave Winfield Speaks at American Cancer Society September 23rd

The American Cancer Society has reeled in a big speaker for their Suits and Sneakers Gala. Baseball Hall of Fame Dave Winfield will give an inspiring presentation based on his life experiences. 

The event takes place on September 23rd at the downtown Reno Ballroom. Winfield holds a tie to the family of Honorary Chair, Nevada basketball coach Eric Musselman. 

The entire Wolfpack team will also be present at the gala. There will be a silent auction, live auction and presentation of the Spirit of Hope Award. 

Winfield is one of the greatest athletes in baseball history. He had a 22-year career in the big leagues and was a 12-time All-Star. 

Winfield was a seven-time Gold Glover and six-time Silver Slugger Award winner. He spent the first eight seasons of his career with the San Diego Padres and has his jersey number retired. 

Winfield also had a memorable run with the New York Yankees and won a World Series with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1992. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001 and is currently a special assistant to the executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association.
