Baseball Hall of Famer Andre Dawson To Attend York Area Sports Night

The York Area Sports Night is known for attracting big-name guests from the world of athletics. This year's proceedings have a second Hall of Famer added to the mix with baseball legend Andre Dawson

Dawson joins Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Guy as the event's honored guests. All the festivities take place April 4 at Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center.

There will be a public reception from 4-6 p.m. and celebrity dinner with live auction from 6:15-7:45 p.m. Tickets are available for $80 in advance and $100 at the door.

Dawson collected over 2,700 hits and 400 home runs over a 21-year career. He began his career with the Montreal Expos and was the 1977 National League Rookie of the Year.

After nearly a decade in Montreal, Dawson joined the Chicago Cubs and won the 1987 NL MVP. That year, he led the league in home runs and RBI.

Overall, Dawson was an eight-time All-Star, eight-time Gold Glove winner and a four-time Silver Slugger Award winner. His jersey was retired by the Expos and he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010.
