Baseball Icon Alex Rodriguez Starts New Podcast Series with Barstool Sports

Baseball icon Alex Rodriguez has become a media juggernaut and he is adding one more title to his resume: podcaster. He has entered into an agreement with Barstool Sports to co-host a business podcast series called "The Corp."

Rodriguez is hosting the show with Barstool's Dan "Big Cat" Katz. The seven-episode series was released on Thursday and it profiles business successes that came after past failures.

Rodriguez spoke to Yahoo Finance more about the focus of the podcast.

"All of our guests had one thing in common: they all had miserable fails," said Rodriguez. "And they all had the ability to get back up, dust off, and redefine themselves. That jumped off the page to me, and how much they own their failures. And I speak a lot about my situation and my comeback."

Some of the notable people that appear on the show include NBA great Kobe Bryant, Shark Tank star Barbar Corcoran and social media influencer Gary Vaynerchuk. Rodriguez and Katz decided to work together on the project after meeting several times.

In his post-baseball life, Rodriguez has become a successful commentator on the game for ESPN and Fox Sports and he has a new show coming to CNBC this spring. He also serves as a guest "shark" on Shark Tank and runs his own business interests through ARod Corp.

Rodriguez finished his playing career with 696 home runs and over 3,000 hits. He was a 14-time American League All-Star and three-time winner of the AL MVP.

Rodriguez debuted with the Seattle Mariners in 1994 and won the AL batting title two years later. He won the World Series with the New York Yankees in 2009.
