Baltimore Ravens Legend Ray Lewis Speaks Out For Local STEM Programs

At his most recent speaking engagement, Baltimore Ravens legend Ray Lewis was advocating for education. Particularly, he spoke about STEM programs at a robot competition that was held in Baltimore.

Lewis message was geared towards the high school students and local robotics teams in attendance. One of the main issues his Power52 Foundation tackles is giving people sustainable job training.

“How can we take this and give this to our kids that they can use for the next 30 years,” Lewis said. “I don’t want them with a job where they can be fired in a year and then do things we don’t want them to do. How can we re-educate them and give them sustainable jobs.”

Proceeds raised from the event went towards Power 52 and the Baltimore Robotics Center. Outside of that financial impact, the kids assembled were certainly excited to see an icon like Lewis speak to them.

Lewis similarly inspired his Ravens teammates over a banner 17-year career. He is one of the greatest middle linebackers in NFL history and was selected to 13 Pro Bowls and ten All-Pro teams.

Lewis was a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and two-time Super Bowl champion. In his final postseason, he led the league with 51 tackles and helped Baltimore win Super Bowl XLVII.

Lewis is honored in Baltimore with a statue outside of M&T Bank Stadium and part of the street near the stadium named after him. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
