Andre Reed Named Speaker at the Danny E Khalouf Scholarship Memorial Banquet

Seven-time Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Andre Reed will be the keynote speaker at the Danny E Khalouf Scholarship Memorial Banquet on March 22nd. Tickets to the event are $65 per person and the proceeds that are raised will go to the Danny E. Khaloud Scholarship program for high school students who attend Dierruff High School, where Reed himself graduated from in 1981. Danny Khalouf and three of his friends passed away in a car accident in 2004 due to a drunk driver, and this fundraiser is his mother’s way of keeping his spirit and love for sports alive.

Reed was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 1985 and he played with the team for 15 years. Towards the end of his football career, he did briefly played for the Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins before his retirement in 2000. The four-time AFC champion is only one of eleven in the NFL history to have a all time career record of 87 touchdown receptions. Since his retirement, Reed has been a regular guest on “NFL on Fox” as a sports analyst, and he has also been on ESPN2’s sports show “First Take.” He has also appeared on the athletic based show “Pros vs Joes” which is aired on Spike TV.

Just last year in February 2014, Reed was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He will be speaking at the Danny E. Khalouf Scholarship Memorial Banquet, which managed to raise $32,000 last year to give out 64 scholarships to students. The event coordinator is hoping to have as successful of a year this time, being as that Reed is a alumni from the high school as well.
